The Palma Lockdown Diary | Week 4

And just like that.. it has been a month of lockdown already! The highlights of this 4th week of COVID-19 quarantine were prepping for Easter by cooking a lot of food and celebrating with an indoor Easter egg hunt!

Let’s start with the most important: FOOD!
  • Orange Cake

Original recipe by Nicook (in French) here. – 115 gr of sugar – 115 gr of soft butter – 115 gr of flour – 1 packet of dry yeast – 4 oranges – 2 eggs Combine sugar and soft butter. Add the eggs. Add the flour and baking powder. Mix well. Add the zest of 3 oranges. Add the juice of 3 oranges. Bake the cake 20min at 200°C (to check). Take the cake out of the oven, and before removing from the tin, pour the juice of the 4th orange. Leave to stand for 15 minutes. Remove from tin. Taste!

PIN IT FOR LATER!

  • Easter Feast

We stocked up on veggies to have enough to cook for the long weekend. We attempted to make olive bread but we had a bit of misunderstanding with Spanish levadura (we wanted yeast but ended up with baking powder as they are both called the same in Spanish…). But we ended up with a delicious focaccia instead and it went greatly with dips. We even had the last pieces as sandwich with all the leftovers from Friday dinner and Easter lunch and it was delicious!!

So, what was on the menu ?

For Friday dinner we made stuffed Aubergine with lentils, a kiwi and cucumber curry tzatziki (literally just cut up kiwis, cucumber and mix Greek yoghurt with a teaspoon of curry powder, a bit of coriander and salt, and it’s done!) , and dips (hummus, beetroot hummus and coriander pesto).

And for Easter Sunday lunch my flatmate made a yummy lamb roast, with roasted veggies (carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, sweet potatoes and pumpkin), and it was delish’! And for desert, a lemon cheesecake, and of course, a lot of chocolates!

Hot Cross Buns

Find a recipe here. Same problem with the yeast/baking powder here, and we didn’t put enough sultanas. But warm with melted butter on it it was still super good!

Spring Cleaning!

Spring is here. And when we get out, it will deficiently won’t be cold anymore! So it was time to switch the winter and summer wardrobe! I’ve also continued my big cleaning spree by washing all the pillows and sofa covers, and continuing to scrub the bathroom tile joints, so satisfying!

Movies & Series

This week we watched the limited series Years and Years. The trailer will speak better about it than me, but seriously, watch it!!

If you’re looking for a romantic drama, Life Itself (on Netflix) is really well done. “A love story spanning generations and continents is connected by a single, heartbreaking event with results that none of those affected can imagine.”

Happy Moments

As I live in the city centre, I usually wake up with the sound of cars and bin trucks, what a joy it has been waking up to the sound of birds. We took advantage of the gorgeous weather we had last week to spend Saturday sunbathing on our roof terrace, oops got burnt! We played our second game of Palmapoly and it ended better than the first attempt! Hurray! You can find all of the details about our DIY Monopoly here.

Online courses

I’m still going through Pink Flamingo Marketing online workshop about FOPY (Fear Of Promoting Yourself). My goal is to be done with before April 27th, as on that day starts Chloe’s new online programme: 6 week to confident marketing. You can find mire information about the course here: https://pinkflamingomarketing.com/confident/. I highly recommend Chloe’s course, she’s a great teacher and mentor!

Supporting small businesses during the lockdown

If you’re in a position where you can still spend money (because let’s be honest, most of us have very little to no income at the moment), it’s time to support smaller businesses. Buy your fruits and veggies at the market instead of the supermarket, order wine from a bar that had to close down but offers deliveries, buy vouchers now for treatments or sessions to be done at a latter date… You can find a directory with many businesses still operating during the lockdown here.

Unfortunately, I can't run my Instagram tours of Palma at the moment, but you can still buy a voucher now and we will do the session as soon as all of this craziness is over us! Email me at adele@yellothere.com to arrange something!

I hope you all had a good week!
